Abstract: Comparative legal studies and cross-cultural studies of law are two distinct types of legal research. They differ from each other in a research objectives, methods of organization, methodology of the study, the nature of the legal conclusions. Such differentiation is necessary to prevent erroneous scientific conclusions and inadequate attempts to transform social practice.
