I. Kitamura Place of Law in the Modern Japanese Society

Abstract: The author considers the position of law in modern Japan, compares his role with the roles of morality and relig ion, and draws parallels with the regulatory functions of law in other countries, like France. Particular attention is paid to administration, as well as the application of the law in making judicial decisions, the freedom of judicial discretion.
