Ushinsky’s problem of studying a childAbstract: Resume: When talking about studying a child by a teacher, Konstantin Ushinsky mostly based on his understanding of pedagogy as a science and art of teaching. This led to clarifying teacher’s professional duties and a new approach to the subject of pedagogy. When viewing the relations between pedagogy and psychology, Ushinsky pointed out how important it is for a teacher to know developmental psychology and to focus on practical side of studying a child by following the principle of “wholeness” and using the method of observation.
