Abstract: Today in the Northern Caucasus there’s a number of inner and external limitations and contradictions, which do not allow to establish lasting peace and concord among the peoples. This article is devoted to the influence of the Islamic factor on the destinies of the peoples living in the region, both in historical retrospective and at the current time.
