Abstract: This paper considers the concepts of an exclusively renewable energy policy and an exclusively renewable energy market on the basis of a hypothesis that the end of the fossil energy era is imminent. It examines current energy policies and their suitability for transition to an exclusively renewable energy market as well as drawing on some possibilities for integrating renewable energy policies into mainstream energy policies. The major part of the paper is devoted to the study of an exclusively renewable energy market structure which would consist almost exclusively of renewable electricity and not biofuels. The qualities of various renewable energy sources are considered in relation to the potential for individual energy production (end-consumer energy production). Individual or end-consumer energy production is considered to be the dominant trend in an exclusively renewable energy market.
