Poya, S. Afghan-Pakistan Confl icts in 1949 – 1963 because of Disagreements Regarding PashtunistanAbstract: Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan in the fi rst decade of decolonization and the partition of British India were characterized by a fervor, then a temporary easing of tensions, caused by the desire of the ruling circles of Afghanistan, especially after coming to power, Daoud Khan in 1953, to use a so-called “Pashtunistan issue” for the restoration of historical justice.
