Abstract: The legislation of the late years in the sphere of nature management and environmental protection in Russia often criticized by both the professionals in the sphere of ecology and the society as a whole. It was often noted that the state ecological expertise of the legislative drafts and the by-law drafts is often skipped, and its negative results failed to lead to due consequences. This article contains the critical evaluation of the existing situation.
