Abstract: Over the recent years, internationalization of the educational process draws heightened interests to foreign students, which in turn, entails a surge of research dedicated to the problems of their adaptation. The goal of this article lies in analyzing the cross-cultural adaptation of foreign students from non-CIS states who study in Russia. The subject of this article is the targeted work of the academic staff on the adaptation of foreign students. Methodological framework is comprised of the following approaches: individual, personality-oriented, activity-oriented, humanistic, and cross-cultural, which takes into account the ethnic and cultural-specific peculiarities of foreign students. The relevance of this topic is justified by the globalization trends of international educational space, as well as strategic tasks of the Russian higher education – stimulate the export of educational services, attract foreign students, and promote the integration of foreign specialists in the Russian job market. The scientific novelty lies in determination of the factors that either contribute to or obstruct the adaptation of foreign students in the Russian universities, as well as the agents of adaptation. On the example of Moscow State University of Technology "STANKIN", the author analyzes the peculiarities of adaptation process, as well as the factors that improve the living and learning conditions of foreign citizens in the new sociocultural environment, increase the level of multicultural interaction within the framework of the educational institution. It is established that the adaptation of foreign students depends on the psychophysiological, educational-cognitive, sociocultural and casual factors, which are closely interrelated. The problems faced by foreign students are associated with submerging to a new sociocultural and educational environment of the university; therefore, the process of their adaptation should be organized, targeted, and integrated.

Abstract: This article raises the problem of intensification of learning professional terminology by the students of a technical university. A brief overview and analysis is provided on the methods applied vocational training. The article defines the role of professional terminology in the process of designated language learning, and substantiates the opinion that the proper organization of methodological support improves the level of general academic and professional competencies of the students of technical specialties during the English  classes, as well as helps the students to acquire skills of sound perception and use of terminological array of their professional field. It is underlined the establishment and development of the means of expressing concepts of a particular science is closely related with the process of formation of the science itself, and reflects the stages of its development to the fullest. The technique proposed by the author implies an algorithm of steps taken by the teacher of foreign language for organizing intensive learning students of professional technical terminology and reading special academic texts, and the texts related to other speech styles, taking into account the communicative tasks of the professional module during the language class. The author concludes that acquisition of professional technical terminology can be effective in the conditions of well-developed structure of methodological work is developed that ensures the sequence of complication of tasks for acquisition and solidification of professional terminology.

Abstract: The author discusses the problem of teaching professional terminology to students of non-linguistic universities of economic orientation. In this article, the role of professional terminology on the process of studying a foreign language for special purposes is determined, and the idea that proper organization of methodological support contributes to the increase of the general and professional competences of economics students on practical classes, and also helps students to master the skills of correct perception and use of terminological array of their professional field is proved. The author emphasizes that a professional side of language training of economics students manifests itself in the possession of a special conceptual framework. The following methods of scientific knowledge were used to solve the tasks set in the course of the study: method of theoretical analysis of literature on the subject of the research; empirical methods – questioning of students, generalization of pedagogical experience, conversations with teachers and students; observation of the process of teaching professional terminology to students of non-linguistic universities, testing. The scientific novelty of the research is due to the choice of the set tasks and the object of the study itself. The author determined and confirmed a compensatory competence as an effective method of assimilation, replenishment, and storage of professional terminology in the process of reading literature on the specialty in non-linguistic universities. The author concludes that the assimilation of professional terminology can be effective if the structure of methodical work providing the sequence of complication of tasks on mastering and consolidation of professional terminology is developed.

Abstract: The author proves the importance of speech situations in the formation of foreign language communicative competence of law enforcement officers. The author studies speech situations whose effectiveness depends on the provision of those being trained with standard means of language. The author considers the process of situational communication as a set of conditions and circumstances, which encourage to communicate and to express ideas, feelings and wishes. The author emphasizes that the insertion of the elements of the basic foreign language into the professional foreign language can help law enforcement officers to communicate more effectively in different situations both in their native country and abroad. The research method is a unified cognitive approach, which includes the methods of logical analysis, the comparative method and the method of context analysis. The author is the first to describe the theoretical aspect of a poorly studied problem of use of situational communication for the formation of communicative competence of law enforcement officers. Defining the conceptual cognitive basis of the narration, speech situations set the communication objective and the algorithm of use of language practices and means of expression, thus helping not only to use the foreign language as a means of professional communication, but also to overcome the communicational difficulties. 

Abstract: The research subject is the English language as a means of professional communication. The author considers the problem of misunderstanding between Russian police officers and the representatives of other cultures, caused by the lack of language proficiency and second-language skills, primarily, the English language, since it has undoubtedly become the language of international communication. The author substantiates the role of the foreign language for police officers training. One of the key tasks of educational institutions within the Ministry of Internal Affairs is the training of professional and dutiful police officers, able to work up to world standards. Forming the linguistic culture by means of studying foreign languages, the police officers gain professional communication experience. The author emphasizes the fact that language proficiency, communication skills, and successful communication, are those success factors, which can have a positive impact on professional activities of police officers, and the foreign language will not be an obstacle, but a key to mutual understanding.
The research method is the unified cognitive methodological approach, which includes the methods of logical analysis, conceptual analysis, person-activity approach, communicational approach, and culturological approach, which reveals the unity of axiological and person-activity aspects. The research novelty is determined by the tasks and the very object of the research. The cognitive approaches are linked with the functional and pragmatic approach, which defines the purpose of the language through its application, the purposes and the situation of communication, i.e. the extralinguistic factors. Since a language is a part of humanities knowledge, studying a foreign language can promote understanding of another instrument of cognition of the reality, and demonstrate the humanitarian culture with other esthetic criteria, thereby increasing the professional level of students. 

Abstract: The paper studies legal terminology. The author emphasizes the fact that unambiguity in sense and functional stability are the features of a legal term, since each term of law should fully conform to the concept denoted and express its essence. The article gives attention to the uniqueness of legal terminology in the context of language and its role in policing. The author considers the problems of correct use of legal terms by legal professionals. The author substantiates the importance of correct use of terms. The author emphasizes the fact that the formation and development of means of expression of any branch of science are closely connected with the process of formation of this science and fully reflect the stages of its development. The used research method is the cognitive approach, including the methods of logical and conceptual analysis. The author carries out theoretical analysis of the system of legal terms and attempts to demonstrate what the modern legal terminology should be from the positions of the general theory of law. The scientific novelty of the study is determined by the set of tasks and the very object of the research. The author attempts to define the formal and conceptual features of the structure of the terminology system of law. Being an object of linguo-didactical study, legal terminology acts as a representative of a large family of languages for special purposes. Since the language of law lives and develops together with the society, its social, cultural, and historical role should be appreciated. 

Abstract: The author raises the problem of using tests to control the level of educational and professional competences of law students during practical classes at a non-linguistic university. The subject of the research is the theoretical basis and practical implementation of a set of tests for monitoring the level of knowledge of students majoring in law. The aim of this paper is to examine the monitoring process in teaching and acquisition of knowledge from the point of view of testing technology. The author substantiates the hypothesis that the use of linguo-didactic tests in the classroom is an efficient instrument to stimulate learning activity of students and a resulting means of teaching and control improving students' motivation towards acquiring communication skills as part of their professional competence. Research methods used in this work include the following: -general research methods such as summary of Russia's experience in efficient use of linguo-didactic tests; and -empirical methods, in particular, observation and questionnaire survey. The novelty of the research is determined by the author's choice of objectives and the matter of research itself. The author also reviewed and extended the list of structural and conceptual characteristics of the concept "linguo-didactic testing" as applied to legal professions taking into account changes in today's educational standards. The author specifies training and controlling forms of testing that purposefully increase the success of learning and actualize the positive motivation of the students.
