The Concept of ‘One-Dimensional Man’ (Modern Adaptation of Herbert Marcuse) Abstract: The author of the article analyzes the ‘critical theory’ of industrial society suggested by Herbert Marcuse in his book ‘One-Dimensional Man’ (published in 1964). In his book Marcuse studied the state of industrial society which, in the result of technological progress, established the total control over human in all the spheres of his activity. ‘Critical theory’ of the industrial society suggested by Marcuse did not manage to find an efficient way to build a new society and this is why Marcuse came to the ‘Great Denial’ of the capitalist and socialist systems.
