Abstract: The article is devoted to the topical issues of development of value systems of Russian and Western civilizations in the conditions of globalization processes. The author views global achievements in the sphere of cultural communications, and negative consequences of globalization on national culture, then gives comparative characteristics of fundamental values of the West and of Russia, defi nes perspectives of the modern state in the conditions of the universal world.
