Journalist in the Terror Scenery: Camille Desmoulins and the Old Cordelier

Abstract:
The article presents a detailed history of Camille Desmoulins' newspaper "The Old Cordelier" in the historical and political context of the Jacobin terror. The content of seven issues of the newspaper is examined, and an attempt is made to reveal Desmoulins' concept of the publication in his dispute with the leader of the extreme left, Hébert, and the all-powerful dictator Robespierre. The first issues of "The Old Cordelier" satisfied Robespierre because they aimed at Hébert and the cult of Reason preached by him. However, gradually the meaning of Desmoulins' texts began to change. The journalist began to write about the shortcomings of the entire machine of state terror and, eventually, inevitably, to criticize Robespierre. Already with his third issue, Desmoulins aroused the discontent of the Jacobin and Cordelier Clubs, from which he was expelled shortly after. The sixth issue was held up by the publisher Desenne, who demanded that the most acute fragments be removed. The seventh issue of the newspaper, which Desmoulins was editing when he was arrested, was published only after Thermidor, and even then with cuts. Desmoulins' political views, which were quite radical at the beginning of the Revolution, underwent a significant evolution against the backdrop of the Terror. In order to influence events, he returned to journalism and began publishing his own newspaper again - an activity he had abandoned when he moved away from publishing the periodical brochure "Revolutions of France and Brabant". A talented journalist, Desmoulins constructed the texts of his issues using "Aesopian" language and allegorical images, which, however, were quite understandable to his contemporaries. Desmoulins' political position became increasingly irreconcilable with the government's terrorist policy. In the end, the fight against Robespierre from the pages of the newspapers led to Desmoulins ending up on the guillotine.

The potential of the university teacher's Telegram channel for the development of the university's image
// Philology: scientific researches.
2024. № 10.
P. 58-65.
DOI: 10.7256/2454-0749.2024.10.71919 EDN: ALIGGP URL: https://en.nbpublish.com/library_read_article.php?id=71919
Abstract:
The subject of the study is the content of the Telegram channel of a university teacher as a means of forming the image of the university. The object of the study is the potential of the employee's Telegram channel as a contribution to the organization's public relations. The author examines this issue in detail using the example of higher education organizations, choosing large and small universities for practical analysis and comparing the content of Telegram channels of those teachers who advertise their affiliation to the university. Special attention is paid to two different approaches typical for large and small universities, respectively: in the first case, the professors positions themselves as professionals regardless of teaching activities, in the second – precisely as university employees. As a result of the analysis, recommendations have been developed that will allow universities to productively use the potential of new media. When selecting the research material, the method of continuous sampling of employees leading Telegram channels and the content of the Telegram channels themselves was used. The author used the method of content analysis of publications, analysis of the quantitative composition of the audience, as well as strategies for the interaction of the channel author with his audience through feedback tools. The main conclusions of the conducted research are, firstly, the statement of the fact of the extremely small use of the potential of employees' Telegram channels to build the image of the organization in the field of higher education. With great attention to the personality of the teacher and the significant influence of his personality on the views of students, tastes in the field of art and culture and the choice of a future profession, the professorship does not convert this influence into the space of new media. A special contribution of the author to the research of the topic is the identification of two strategies for the interaction of the personality of the author of the Telegram channel with his profession as a university teacher. Conditionally, they can be designated as the primacy of professional success and personal brand, regardless of teaching, and the primacy of teaching, regardless of personal brand. The novelty of the research lies in the research of the teacher's Telegram channel, undertaken for the first time in Russian science, precisely in connection with the image of the university: for example, there are studies of teachers' Telegram channels in their connection with the teaching process (assignment placement, dialogues with students through the Telegram platform), but the connection with the positioning of the university and its image has not been previously considered.

Creating a speech portrait of a modern Chinese teacher in online media
// Philology: scientific researches.
2024. № 9.

DOI: 10.7256/2454-0749.2024.9.71735 EDN: CRNVHM URL: https://en.nbpublish.com/library_read_article.php?id=71735
Abstract:
The purpose of the study is to identify the speech characteristics of modern Chinese teachers. The object of the study is the blog(s). Special attention is paid to the visual and auditory design of the video material: the presence of music, the design of the room, the style of the blogger's clothes, the manner of speech. The desire to show their own market attractiveness against the background of competitors, the desire to become popular and have their own audience on the Internet motivates bloggers to show authority in a variety of ways. The research material was two commercials of English language courses on the "bilibili" platform. The coronavirus infection has pushed the Chinese government and private educators to develop online teaching platforms, among which the bilibili video hosting can be cited as example. Users of this platform have the opportunity not only to watch videos, but also to purchase video courses on various topics. The work uses a descriptive method (observation, interpretation, generalization). In the course of the study, the speech analyzer programs Text-Analyzer and Cathoven were used, with the help of which the approximate level of oral text on the CEFR scale was determined. As a result of the analysis, the main features of the speech portrait of the teacher-blogger were highlighted, and the importance of the image on the Internet for attracting an audience was emphasized. The main contribution of the author is a comprehensive study of the image of a modern teacher in Chinese linguoculture. Along with the economic boom and the development of social networks in China, there has been a reassessment of traditional values. The penetration of Western mass culture has had a strong impact on the population, especially on the younger generation, who use the Internet to a greater extent and consume entertainment and educational content. This influence has not spared modern Chinese teachers. Studying the image of a Chinese teacher in modern realities will help to update information about Chinese culture, its synthesis with modern mass culture and traditional Confucian values.

Decoding reality and modeling an alternative factual field in media discourse
// Philology: scientific researches.
2024. № 8.

DOI: 10.7256/2454-0749.2024.8.71572 EDN: QQXXGR URL: https://en.nbpublish.com/library_read_article.php?id=71572
Abstract:
The object of the research is the mechanisms of decoding real reality, on the one hand, as well as the features of modeling alternative eventfulness of an interpretative nature, on the other hand, within the framework of media discourse. The subject of the study is the ways of constructing a new reality as a system of concepts, the means of their objectification at the pragmatic and linguistic levels within the political segment of media discourse, using the example of briefing materials by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, M.V. Zakharova. At the same time, special attention is paid at the level of pragmatics to identifying tactics and strategies, nominations of subjects participating in communication, and at the linguistic level proper – precedent phenomena, discursive words, the nature of syntagmatics, features of stylistic labeling of individual nominations and other resources that contribute to modeling not so much a new factual field as its conceptual model. In the study of the political segment of media discourse based on the material of a polycode text, the author relies on the principles of anthropological linguodidactics, including a communicative-activity approach, cognitive-discursive methods are also used to identify the features of modeling the worldview. The main conclusions of the conducted research are the establishment of the fact of perlocution, actionality of media discourse, its undeniable influence on modeling the global picture of the world and broadcasting the Russian model of globalization, as well as its influence on the recipient's consciousness. In addition, it should be noted the linguistic and didactic potential of the political segment of media discourse, especially when studying the Russian language by foreigners. The novelty and special contribution of the author to the study of the specifics of the interpretation of the event field within the framework of the political segment of media discourse is the identification of an additional component in the conceptual opposition of one's own and someone else's – another, which is positioned as a segment of acceptance of otherness, which plays a key role in creating the Russian model of globalization based on the principles of universal parity. Against this background, political discourse becomes a source of valuable information not only of an eventful, but also of a conceptual nature for both speakers of linguistic consciousness and foreign speakers.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to a Canvas-video by Norwegian singer Aurora Aksnes (AURORA) on Spotify. The object of this article is the representation of ancient aesthetics in the streaming services interface and an artist's work. The author considers in detail such aspects of the topic as the genesis of intermediality, its connection with ekphrasis in ancient rhetoric, as well as the unconscious nature of borrowing (reconstructing) visual images in new media. The author points out the correlative nature of some artistic means, marking both modern forms of ekphrasis and more conventional examples of its as well. The author analyses the kylix which attributed to the vase painter Apollodoros as a particular example of ancient Greek painting, subconsciously reproduced in the process of imitating ancient aesthetics in a music video. The main conclusions of the article are the presence of a reminiscence of red-figure vase painting in the design of AURORA’s Canvas-video, the metamodern nature of the intermediate message and its potential for generating social communities. A special author's contribution to the research of the topic is the original description of the four levels of message interaction with its intuitive source. The author's literary translations of some of the performer's texts, especially important in the framework of this work, are also given. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the consideration and analysis of hitherto unexplored aspects of public positioning on streaming platforms. A new element in the scientific paradigm is the idea of correlating the influencers' media strategy with the phenomenon of the formation of small social groups (subcultures) on the aesthetic associations basis. At the end of the article, the author lists a number of promising directions for further scientific research: theory and practice of ekphrasis, intermediality and the media strategy method.

Abstract:
The subject of the study is the definition of the role of mass media in the development of intercultural communication in the context of digitalization. Intercultural communication in the modern world is actively developing in the context of globalization, and is also being significantly transformed through the mass application of information and digital technologies. The promotion of intercultural dialogue in order to form an understanding and acceptance of the specifics and identity of different cultures remains unchanged. The article formulates the author's definition of the meaningful characteristics of the role of the media in the development of intercultural communication through the prism of two main aspects of their functioning in this area: the transmission of socio-cultural values and traditions, as well as coverage of issues arising in the process of intercultural dialogue. Attention is focused on the complex nature of the influence exerted, which is manifested in the implementation of a number of functions by the media (educational, organizational and integration). Through a systematic analysis, the current state of intercultural communication has been studied, and the use of a structural and functional method has made it possible to determine the role of the media in the development of intercultural communication. Based on the application of empirical methods (observation, comparison, etc.), current trends in the functioning of the media in the context of digitalization have been identified. The scientific novelty of the article lies in the fact that it takes into account the impact of the large-scale dissemination of information and digital technologies in the media, which significantly increases the availability of relevant materials to the public, and the degree of involvement of the media in the development of intercultural communication. The role of the media in the development of intercultural communication in the context of digitalization is determined, since the process of mass media dissemination currently has significant specifics and is important for the formation of a modern person's worldview. According to the results of the study, the authors conclude that the activity of the media in the context of digitalization, characterized by the transition to the Internet space, is of crucial importance for the development of intercultural communication. Conclusions and suggestions can be used in the development and reading of theoretical and practical courses on intercultural communication.
