Features of the transfer of quasi-realies of F. Herbert's science fiction novel “Dune” into Russian and French
// Philology: scientific researches.

Abstract:
An integral feature of science fiction literature is the realities of the fictional world by the author or the so-called quasi-realities. The transfer of realities from one language to another is still an urgent problem of linguistics and causes difficulties for both beginners and professional translators. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze ways to convey the realities of F. Herbert's novel “Dune” in translations into Russian and French. The choice of the actual research material – F. Herbert's novel “Dune” – was not made by chance. It is explained by the significant influence exerted by this work on the entire industry of world science fiction, the presence in it of all the classical elements inherent in this literary genre, as well as the undying interest in the Dune universe. In the course of the work, the following methods were used as the main ones: comparative analysis, the method of continuous sampling, methods of classification, interpretation and linguistic commentary. The article classifies the author's terminology of the novel and identifies the main groups of quasi-realities. These lexical units became the object of comparative analysis of the original text and its translations, which allowed to identify translation difficulties and ways to overcome them. Of particular interest for the study was not only in comparing the original with each translation separately, but also in comparing these translations with each other. As a result, it was found that when transferring the author's anthroponyms, most toponyms and ethnonyms in Russian translation, lexical transformations of transcription and transliteration were used, whereas in French their original forms were preserved. When transferring quasi-grammatical names in both languages compared, semantic translation, morphemic translation, calcification, creation of similar neologisms and, in rare cases, transcription/transliteration (in the Russian version) and preservation of the original form (in French) were used.

Abstract:
The article presents the results of the analysis of the pragmatic level of the linguistic personality of the hero of the novel by F.M. Dostoevsky Dmitry Karamazov. The relevance of the research is due to the fact that it is carried out within the framework of the anthropocentric paradigm of modern linguistics. The object of the study is the speech parts of the hero of the novel in the aspect of communicative activity. The subject of the study is the communicative strategies and tactics in the speech behavior of Dmitry Karamazov. The aim of the study is to describe the pragmatic level of the linguistic personality of the hero of the novel "The Brothers Karamazov". In the work we use the traditional descriptive method, the method of continuous sampling, the method of contextual analysis, the method of communicative and pragmatic analysis. Scientific novelty is determined by the fact that the work describes for the first time the hero of F.M. Dostoevsky's novel Dmitry Karamazov as a special linguistic personality. The practical significance of the work lies in the possibility of using the results of the research in the educational process in the courses "National specifics of Russian speech behavior" and "Sociolinguistics". The paper analyzes the dominant motives of Dmitry Karamazov's communicative activity, describes the hero's communicative strategies and linguistic ways of their implementation. As a result of the study, conclusions were drawn about the features of Dmitry Karamazov's speech behavior at different language levels, as well as about the possible causes of the hero's communicative failures.

The availability of sources, including through open access resources, on the one hand, facilitates the work of users, on the other hand, presents difficulties in the selection and structuring of resources. In the course of the study, we analyzed the websites of libraries of pedagogical universities and considered the main types of measures to promote educational resources, identified further vectors of development in the context of digital transformation. The object of the study is to identify the features of the promotion of publishing projects. The subject of the study is methodological activities carried out within the walls of libraries. The article describes in detail the types of methodological measures offered by publishers in offline and online formats. The joint work of libraries and publishing houses to popularize electronic resources is an important component on which the quality of the educational process depends.Main conclusions: methodological support of publishers is very important for the promotion of educational resources, which cannot be limited to instructions or other methodological materials. The Road as a Sphere-Source of Metaphorical Expansion in the Modeling of the Education System in the Russian Media Pedagogical Discourse
// Philology: scientific researches.

DOI: 10.7256/2454-0749.2022.9.37773 EDN: BUADOD URL: https://en.nbpublish.com/library_read_article.php?id=37773
Abstract:
The subject of the research in this article is the metaphors with the word "The Road" used in Russian Internet resources devoted to education issues when describing various concepts of the education system. The object of study is the media pedagogical discourse presented by publications in the Russian Internet sources Bulletin of Education and Vesti Obrazovaniya for the period from March 2019 to February 2022. The main method of research is linguistic-cognitive analysis. With regard to the implication of the concept sphere "Education", the image of the road is productive for describing the nature of pedagogical interactions and the state of the education system as a whole, as well as expressing an assessment of development trends in this area. The novelty of the research lies in the fact that for the first time the Russian media-pedagogical discourse is the object of studying metaphorical word usage, representing the conceptual sphere of "Education". The main conclusions of the study are the following provisions. The use of metaphorical nominations with the source sphere "path, road" in the media pedagogical discourse is important when describing the activities of subjects of the education system. These nominations allow us to form a metaphorical model of "Education is a road" with a frame structure of "The right way", "The Wrong way", "Slowing down", "The end of the road". Concretizing and ordering the phenomena and events taking place in the educational environment, media texts actualize metaphors with the source sphere "The Road", where the educational process is perceived as the right or wrong path.

From Skepticism to Superstitious Fear: an Analysis of the Novel by M. R. James "You whistle, I won't keep you waiting."
// Philology: scientific researches.
2022. ¹ 9.
P. 42-49.
DOI: 10.7256/2454-0749.2022.9.38705 EDN: BFNOXR URL: https://en.nbpublish.com/library_read_article.php?id=38705
Abstract:
The article analyzes the poetical features of creating an alarming atmosphere and depicting the terrible in the novel by the famous British author of ghost stories M. R. James "You whistle ...". The purpose of the work: to trace the mixing of traditional Gothic and special author's methods. Special attention is paid to symbolism and the so-called "children's" mythology. The transformation of the main character's views from scientific skepticism to superstitious fear of the infernal, through overcoming the boundaries of his consciousness, is traced. The features of chronotope, spatiopoetics and sonosphere are investigated. The special functioning of the found artifact – the whistle – as a guide to a parallel oneiric space is noted. The concept of vision and blindness as the most important components of cognition of the world is actualized. Attention is paid to M. R. James' invariable "punishment" of the hero for excessive curiosity. Noteworthy is the motive of the "call", stated in the title of the novel, which is a reinterpreted quote from Robert Burns' verse "Song". The methodological base involves the synthesis of both philological and philosophical, as well as culturological approaches. An important result is the conclusion about the mixing of the traditional Gothic landscape orchestration of events and modern location, as well as the use of folk superstitions as a key to understanding transcendental phenomena. The aspects of scientific novelty include the use by the author of the article of modern psychological and philosophical concepts for a deeper and more detailed analysis. In particular, the works of Heidegger, Trigg, Harman and others are studied. Through this, "fear" - as the main element of Gothic novels, is explored comprehensively. Resorting to such an analysis, it becomes possible to give an answer to the question about the continuing popularity of the genre of "ghost stories". The paradoxical position of the author of the novel M. R. James is noted, who, being a man of science, demonstrates how strong the influence of irrational forces and subconscious fears on a rational person can be. This explains the choice of the title of the article.
