Tamrazova, E. N. Role of Religion and Law in Formation of the Arab CaliphateAbstract: The article defi nes the role of the religion and law in formation of the most powerful early medieval state institution - the Arab caliphate. The author of the article emphasizes features of origin of the Arab religion (Islam) and the state institution (caliphate). The main aspects of formation of the law and the legislation are also analyzed. Mohammed’s fi gure as a prophet and political leader is considered. Respectively, a number of conclusions about infl uence of religion and the right to caliphate formation are made. Keywords: caliphate, Islam, Sharia, Koran, Sunna, Idzhma.
