Edelman G. Consciousness: The Remembered Present (Translated by I. A. Beskova)

Abstract: The article sums up the Theory of Consciousness based on the studies of the mind’s structure and dynamics. The theory evolves around the concept of “reentry”, - recursive transfer of signals through numerous inter-related parts of brain, mostly in the thalamocortical system. The theory is based on fundamental researches by William James and Ramon y Cajal.
