Abstract: This article is an attempt to show how important it is to officially recognize the main values of the Russian National Idea at the national level. The author described the basic principals of the state Russian ideology. He also underlined the role of the Orthodox Church in formation of the national mentality. The article contains examples of formation of the national idea from the world history and history of Russia.
